Fire Detection Systems Regulation
Fire Detection Systems as an Individual and Legal Obligation
In addition to providing great convenience to our lives, developing technology brings with it the necessity of taking some security measures.Electronic devices and cabling systems, which are increasingly used in homes and offices, increase the risk of fire at certain rates.When you take a look around, you can easily spot at least a few objects around you that could create a fire risk.Smartphones, foot heaters, televisions, air conditioners, computers, lamps, and all these devices that go on and on are actually a potential source of risk.
Of course, in order to minimize this risk, many new systems and laws, both individual and legal, come into our lives.Legal regulations published in the official gazette, which imposes certain legal obligations, establishes measures covering especially public institutions and organizations; the rate of use of Fire Detection Systems and Fire Warning Systems, which enable the necessary precautions to be taken in all kinds of structures, buildings, facilities and businesses with individual awareness and experiences, is increasing.
Implementation of Regulation No 12937 on Fire Protection of Buildings published in the Official Gazette was decided by the Council of Ministers on 27/11/2007 in accordance with the additional 9th article of the Civil Defence Law No. 7126, following the 1/11/2007 dated and 5098 numbered letter of Ministry of Public Works and Settlement.This article covers; fire prevention and extinguishing measures to be taken in all kinds structures, buildings, facilities and businesses with indoor and outdoor spaces in Turkey; requirements on how the design, production, use, maintenance and operation principles of structures, buildings, facilities and businesses must be in order to minimize the dangers that could be caused by fire, heat, smoke, poisonous gas, suffocating gas and panic, in terms of life and property safety.
As with all subjects, individual awareness and precautions regarding fire, which includes a vital situation, are really important.Especially in crowded environments; such as accommodation and gathering areas, educational institutions, health centres, commercial centres, offices, industrial centres, storage areas and prisons, the use of Fire Detection Systems and Fire Warning Systems provide effective solutions in order to prevent the risk and bad consequences of fire. When installing these systems, the architectural features (shape, size, location) of the structure, the intended use of the system, the potential spread patterns of the fire determine the way the system is installed.Fire Detection and Alarm Systems should be installed integrated with Fire Extinguishing Systems and Facility Emergency Lighting and Guidance systems if they are to be used together.However, even in its simplest form, a Fire Detection System should be able to provide the following services;
Detection of Fire
(Smoke - Temperature - Radiation)Audio and Lighting Warning System
Control and Intercommunication
Detection of Fire Starting Point
(Conventional Fire Alarm Systems - Analogue Addressable Alarm Systems)Fire Detection Systems, which are expected to meet all these expectations, should operate with zero error and should be regularly serviced and checked to minimize both loss of property and loss of life.
